crushin' since day 1

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you would've seen that I recently posted a photo of Jeff and I! Every once in a while Jeff and I will take our camera and a tripod and take some photos on self timer! I sometimes have to convince Jeff a little bit, but once we're out taking pictures he really enjoys himself! 
Yesterday we finally went out and took some! It was a ton of fun!! So, since I think they turned out pretty great, I figured I would share them with all of you! (I'll potentially be posting them on Facebook as well yet.)

moving on

Good Morning! Well, here I am, writing a blog post on my VERY last day of university. At 2:00 this afternoon I'm writing my psychology final and that's the very last thing that needs to be done for my Education Assistant and Community Support Program at TRU! It's been a great experience, I've learnt a ton, got some fantastic experience, and made some truly amazing friends. 
"So what's next?" Oh, I'm glad you asked. Jeff's got a few more final left until he's done as well, and then after that we're moving on! No I mean like, literally... moving. But don't worry, we're only going to be gone for the summer! Jeff got a call a while back that they wanted  him to work at a bank in La Crete! So after some prayer and careful consideration: we're moving to La Crete for the summer- once again! Yep, it's official! So the tentative plan is to make the trek up north on May 1st. Since the plan for so long had been to stay in Kamloops over the summer it was tough to change our thoughts and thinking about being in La Crete instead. But it seemed like all the right doors we're opening for us so we're trusting that good things are going to be coming from us being in La Crete for the summer! "So, Jeff will be at the bank, but what about you Alana?" Once again, great question. My plan is to do some subbing at a few of the school's out there! Other than that- we'll see  I guess!
Overall, I'm excited to get out of the city for a while again, see Jeff's family, and our friends out there; but I am going to miss my family that's out here, and the hot Kamloops summer! So I guess these next... 14 days will consist of finishing up at school, cleaning up our place, packing up our things, strapping the kayaks to the car, and heading out! Although we do want to try to have some more little adventures before we go! So I'm really looking forward to that. 
There you have it! That's what's been going on for the Martens'!

recent things

This song is amazing. It's definitely one of my favourites from Steffany's album "The Undoing", this one and Cecie's Lullaby (which is also a song i encourage you to take a listen to!).  I just figured i would upload it so you could have something lovely to listen to while reading!

So a fair bit has happened since i last updated you guys! One of the bigger events that's occurred since last time is- reading week! It was from February 14th-22nd, and it was lovely. When you think "I can't wait, a week off school! I'm gonna get so much done!" you're actually being super naive. And that was me. I had quite a bit planned for myself: school work, house work, etc... but i basically watched a lot of TV shows, and thats kind of it. BUT on the 20th we went down to Vancouver!!! (I should also mention that this was my very first time going to Vancouver!) It was a blast! We drove down super early on the Friday, cause my dad had meetings in Abbotsford, then we went to Vancouver in the afternoon! We went to Granville Island, got to go on a cute little ferry, drove kind of through Stanley Park, did a hike and saw the ocean at Lighthouse Park, got to see some family friends, and ended off the trip going to IKEA! 

Oh, but wait- theres more! (this is the exciting news that i mentioned at the bottom of my last post) To really end off the trip with a bang we went down to Surrey and picked up... MY NEW CAMERA!! I'm super excited about it! We purchased the body of a year old Canon 5D Mark iii! We had our Canon Rebel for a year and a half, and we'll still keep it so Jeff can use it! This way, when we go hiking, we can both carry a camera! Anyways, I'm totally in love with the new camera. Its super lovely! I took some photos of my sister Tiffany this past week (she came up to visit- YAY!), to get some practice with the camera, and they turned out really great; so I'll try to post them here asap! Oh and yesterday I also took some photos of my friend Megan! So i'll try to get to that yet too i suppose!

Life's been kinda crazy with school, practicum, and everything in between- but me and Jeff have been so happy. Oh, and the other weekend we went up to a place called "Blind Bay" and got me a kayak! It's super lovely and it's blue! (which was what i wanted! hehe) But that's basically all that's new lately! I've actually been adding to this post here and there, so thats why it spans from reading week to now.

Well, happy spring and i'll try to post some more photos soon!!
